The Jim Thorpe Olympians will head out on the road to face off against the Palmerton Blue Bombers at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Jim Thorpe fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They enjoyed a cozy 28-13 win over Lehighton on Friday.
Jim Thorpe found their leader in underclassman Cole Lazorick, who rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 119 yards and three touchdowns. Justin Yescavage was in the mix too, providing Jim Thorpe with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Palmerton can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past Northern Lehigh, posting a 47-13 win on the road. The win was just business as usual for Palmerton, who after ten games remain undefeated this season.
Matthew Machalik continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 176 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 58 yards and a touchdown. Machalik hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for ten straight games. Ty Sander was another major influence, as he rushed for 39 yards and ran in a TD.
Jim Thorpe's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Palmerton, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 10-0.
Jim Thorpe came up short against Palmerton when the teams last played back in September, falling 41-31. Can Jim Thorpe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
