Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sumner). They blew past the King Lions 15-0 on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Stingrays considering their one-run performance the match before.
Riley Wine made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Madison Nizzaro was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Isabella Gomez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Sumner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as King only posted an OBP of .214.
