Freeport was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight  defeat. They took  a  6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Guilford Vikings.  Diem Beach put in work while hitting and pitching. She  struck out seven batters over  five innings while giving up just two earned  (and three unearned) runs off   five  hits. That's the fewest  hits  she has allowed since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with two  stolen bases and two  runs.
 In other batting news,  Quinn Krzeminiski was cooking despite her team's loss,   getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances with one  double and one  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Madelyn Barr, who  went 3-for-4 with one  run and one  double.
Freeport's loss dropped their record down to 6-19. As for Guilford, they moved to 8-16 with that  victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Freeport will square off against Belvidere North at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Blue Thunder will roll in looking for their  11th straight  win, something the Pretzels surely won't give up without a fight. As for Guilford, they will face off against Hononegah at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4  runs per game  this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
