The McMichael Phoenix pushed their score all the way to 55 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were outmatched by Reidsville on the road and fell 94-55. McMichael has not had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
McMichael's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cody Beck, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jakeis Vernon, who scored nine points.
Reidsville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kendre Harrison out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds. Harrison is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Dionte Neal was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 assists.
McMichael's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Reidsville, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.
McMichael will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Morehead focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Tuesday. As for Reidsville, they will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Stokes will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Rams are ranked 15th).
