The Stivers School for the Arts Tigers struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Dunbar Wolverines had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Stivers School for the Arts took a 64-50 bruising from Dunbar. While losing is never fun, Stivers School for the Arts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 530th, while Dunbar is ranked 234th).
Despite the loss, Stivers School for the Arts still got an impressive performance from Amaury Hawes, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Hawes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Wright, who scored 14 points.
Eric Brewer jr was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-8 from long range and dropping a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds for Dunbar. Brewer jr is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Baron White, who scored 17 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Stivers School for the Arts and nudges their season record down to 4-9. As for Dunbar, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.
Stivers School for the Arts will be playing at home against Belmont at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Belmont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. Dunbar will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Meadowdale at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th. One thing working in Meadowdale's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
