The Horace Mann UCLA Community Panthers pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 63-56 to New West Charter. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Horace Mann UCLA Community in their matchups with New West Charter: they've now lost three in a row.
It was another big night for Liam Hakimi, who scored 42 points for New West Charter. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hakimi has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Beck O'Hara, who scored nine points.
Horace Mann UCLA Community's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for New West Charter, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-4.
Horace Mann UCLA Community will head out on the road to challenge Middle College at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Middle College focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 37 last Saturday. As for New West Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Math & Science College Preparatory at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Math & Science College Preparatory knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully New West Charter likes a good challenge.
