Hampton County has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Oceanside Collegiate Academy Landsharks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hampton County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Oceanside Collegiate Academy likes a good challenge.
Hampton County had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They strolled past Andrew Jackson with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 37-21. Hampton County pushed the score to 23-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Andrew Jackson cut but never quite recovered from.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Zion Dobson and Trey Thompson. Dobson had a great game and punched in four rushing scores. Meanwhile, Thompson was balling out in the loss, rushing for 140 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Oceanside Collegiate Academy came tearing into Friday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Barnwell 43-6 on the road. Oceanside Collegiate Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won seven games by 22 points or more this season.
Hampton County pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.3 points per game. As for Oceanside Collegiate Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Hampton County took a serious blow against Oceanside Collegiate Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 71-27. Can Hampton County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
