Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Layton Christian Academy

Layton Christian Academy entered their tilt with Mater Academy East Las Vegas on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights by a score of 41-29.

Layton Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ava Smith, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 boards. Smith has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Fabiana Lopez, who posted ten points and seven steals.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amija Macon, who had 14 points in addition to six rebounds and five blocks. Another player making a difference was Aa'Ziah Fraizer, who put up nine points and three steals.

The win got Layton Christian Academy back to even at 7-7. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Layton Christian Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Taylorsville at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-30 victory against San Diego on the 27th.
