Given Silver Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Greeley Central is ranked 162nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Silver Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gabe Selby, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Selby hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Luke Schmeeckle, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Greeley Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Martin Mendoza. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Arlo richardson, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Silver Creek's win bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Greeley Central, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-13.
