The Naples Golden Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Riverdale Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Naples has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Naples came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-3 to Barron Collier. The Golden Eagles have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Michael Salvi made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those doubles were his first of the season. NICO BLANCO was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Riverdale gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over Oasis.
Tayt Chili tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Riverdale: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 1-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Deegan Johnson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Mason Moran, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Riverdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oasis only managed four.
Riverdale's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6. As for Naples, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Naples got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2023 against Riverdale by a conclusive 13-2 score. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
