The Crawford Colts are on the road again on Friday and play against the Orange Glen Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Both teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games.
Even though Hoover scored an imposing 44 points on Friday, Crawford still came out on top. Crawford had just enough and edged Hoover out 46-44.
Joseph Minchello was his usual excellent self, rushing for 279 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per carry. Trevon Blanks also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Orange Glen entered their tilt with Tri-City Christian with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Orange Glen snuck past Tri-City Christian with a 38-32 victory on Friday. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Orange Glen's two-point performance the match before.
Orange Glen found their leader in underclassman Bowyn Cannon, who rushed for 418 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per carry. Cannon hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Angel Rios was another major influence, as he rushed for 43 yards and ran in a TD.
Crawford's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-3. As for Orange Glen, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Crawford has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 203.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Orange Glen struggles in that department as they've been even better at 256.6 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Crawford strolled past Orange Glen when the teams last played back in August of 2015 by a score of 24-8. Will Crawford repeat their success, or does Orange Glen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
