Jack Menke and Matthew Menke were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Menke tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Meanwhile, Matthew tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Jack has become a key player for Bishop Machebeuf: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise. At the plate, Menke went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Matthew went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was John Menke, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Dayspring Christian Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Mustangs 14-2. Considering the Eagles have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Bishop Machebeuf, Dayspring Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Gage Davis. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Davis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Josiah Rodriguez was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Logan Vaniddekinge was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI.
Dayspring Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.
Dayspring Christian Academy pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Bishop Machebeuf, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Bishop Machebeuf suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Dayspring Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Buffaloes have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
