The Cedar Cliff Colts will face off against the Muhlenberg Muhls at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cedar Cliff's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Muhlenberg's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Cedar Cliff was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Mechanicsburg on Thursday. The Colts never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Colts in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.
The team relied heavily on Ian Ripple, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. Blake Secrest was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cedar Cliff kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Muhlenberg and Twin Valley, and Muhlenberg kept the tradition alive. The Muhls came out on top in a nail-biter against the Raiders on Friday, sneaking past 3-1.
Cole Moody spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Muhlenberg is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise.
At the plate, Muhlenberg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marvin Frias, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. John Martin also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Muhlenberg's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Cedar Cliff, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cedar Cliff has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Muhlenberg struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Cedar Cliff got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 against Muhlenberg by a conclusive 7-0 score. Do the Colts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Muhls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
