Basketball Game Preview: Fort Collins Lambkins vs. Heritage Eagles

The Fort Collins Lambkins will head out on the road to take on the Heritage Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Fort Collins saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell to Poudre 57-51.

Despite the defeat, Fort Collins got top-tier performance from Marcel Herrera, who posted 21 points along with seven steals and six boards. Those 21 points gave Herrera a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Boros, who put up nine points.

Meanwhile, Heritage entered their tilt with Highlands Ranch on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They strolled past the Falcons with points to spare, taking the game 66-50. 66 seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Heritage's win came from a few key players Fort Collins will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brayden Chaney, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Atticus Schroeder, who had 11 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Heritage was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highlands Ranch only racked up 13 assists.

Fort Collins has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Heritage, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-3.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Fort Collins has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 24.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.3 boards.
