Richard Carlson posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Tuesday. As a matter of fact, he produced his best game of the campaign: he struck out 21 batters over seven innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of South Beloit's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't).

Coming up, Carlson and South Beloit will challenge Earlville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Sobos got just the result they wanted when they last faced the Red Raiders thanks in part to Carlson: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched.
