The Braden River Pirates''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Parrish Community. Braden River was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Parrish Community apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Five players turned in solid performances, on Friday, but Braden River still came up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Yahshua Edwards, who gained 120 total yards and a touchdown. Marcus Galloway also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Parrish Community's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jackson Volz led the charge by throwing for 345 yards and two touchdowns while completing 74.2% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Lane Tomlinson, who picked up 148 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Braden River's loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-1 Manatee and 6-2 Port Charlotte (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 77.1% over those games). As for Parrish Community, the win was the fifth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Braden River will be playing in front of their home fans against Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Charlotte is ranked 250th, while Braden River is ranked 255th). As for Parrish Community, they will head out on the road to face off against Cypress Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cypress Creek will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
