The Indian Valley Braves will head out to square off against the Dover Crimson Tornadoes at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Indian Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Indian Valley is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Newcomerstown. That's two games in a row now that the Braves have lost by exactly two runs.
Shelby Gossett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Heavenlee Pall was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Dover narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Strasburg-Franklin 3-1.
Jenna Molk was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
In other pitching news, Kara Lint looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Avery Contini, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
Dover's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Indian Valley, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Indian Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Dover struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Indian Valley suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Dover when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Braves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
