The Ripon Indians waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They had just enough and edged Escalon out 65-62. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Ripon has posted against the Cougars since February 6, 2020.
Ripon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dawson Downs, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Baur, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Ripon is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Escalon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-6.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Hughson the next time they take the court. Ripon will head out to face the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Cougars will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
