Basketball Game Preview: South Paulding Spartans vs. Rome Wolves

South Paulding is 0-5 against Rome since January of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The South Paulding Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rome Wolves at 6:00 p.m. South Paulding knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Rome likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, South Paulding made easy work of Villa Rica and carried off a 57-34 win. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

South Paulding's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chloe Vandyke, who posted 14 points along with six boards and three steals. Vandyke has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Lindsey Henry was another key player, putting up 12 points and eight rebounds.

South Paulding smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Rome unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to New Manchester 54-50.

South Paulding pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.7 points per game. As for Rome, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-7.
