Basketball Game Preview: Milby Buffs vs. Spring Woods Tigers

The Milby Buffs are taking a road trip to face off against the Spring Woods Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Milby has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Spring Woods will arrive with eight straight victories.

Last Monday, Milby lost to Sterling on the road by a 82-64 margin. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (59), the Buffs still had to take the loss.

Despite the defeat, Milby saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Isaiah Washington went 11 for 19 en route to 22 points and eight boards. Those 22 points gave Washington a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Delani Pestaina, who posted 16 points.

Even though they lost, Milby was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Spring Woods beat Sterling 49-45 on Saturday.

Spring Woods' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Milby, their loss dropped their record down to 6-19.

Milby suffered a grim 78-53 defeat to Spring Woods when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Milby avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
