Argonaut is 9-1 against Amador since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Mustangs will take on the Buffaloes at 5:00 p.m. Argonaut is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Last Thursday, Argonaut was able to grind out a solid victory over Rosemont, taking the game 9-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Hailey Dewald was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. That run marked the first that she scored this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bailey Baker, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bri Bowers, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Amador hadn't beaten El Dorado on the road since April 11, 2015 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Buffaloes put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Buffaloes, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Jessica Mittelstadt spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, Faith DelReal was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Reilly Peckinpaugh was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.
Amador has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Argonaut, their record is now 8-3.
Argonaut was able to grind out a solid win over Amador in their previous matchup back in March, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
