John J. Duggan Academy's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a rough 67-25 loss at the hands of Springfield Renaissance. John J. Duggan Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-11.
Springfield Renaissance got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maya Ocana-saunders out in front who scored 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for her. Zi'yan Wallace was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.
John J. Duggan Academy's defeat was their third straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-1. As for Springfield Renaissance, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
John J. Duggan Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hampden Charter School of Science at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. As for Springfield Renaissance, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Granby at 6:30 p.m. on December 22nd.
