Brooke Gleicher made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with six RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Leesville Road got a massive performance out of Avery Goodwin, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Goodwin continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Bryanna Guilliams was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs.
Leesville Road kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Broughton had taken Athens Drive down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Capitals lost 12-5 to the Jaguars.
Louise Hatch made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian O'Neill, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Leesville Road's record now sits at 6-9. As for Broughton, they dropped their record down to 3-12 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Leesville Road hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Broughton struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Leesville Road might still be hurting after the 15-9 defeat they got from Broughton in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Pride avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
