The Coventry Oakers had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Tiverton with a sharp 59-36 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Coventry has managed all season.
Logan Voelker was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Voelker is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Broady, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Coventry is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Tiverton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coventry will face off against Hope at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hope has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 2. As for Tiverton, they will head out on the road to square off against Shea at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shea will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
