Basketball Game Preview: Dietrich Blue Devils vs. Glenns Ferry Pilots

Dietrich has gone 9-1 against Glenns Ferry recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. After both having extra time off, both will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dietrich has seven straight victories, Glenns Ferry has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, Dietrich needed a bit of extra time to put away Murtaugh. They walked away with a 75-66 win over the Red Devils. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Red Devils are ranked 104th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dietrich's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brody Torgerson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Chase Norman, who went 8 of 15 en route to 20 points along with eight boards and five steals.

Dietrich smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Glenns Ferry was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap two weeks ago as they fell 61-56 to Hagerman.

Dietrich's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points per game. As for Glenns Ferry, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Dietrich was able to grind out a solid win over Glenns Ferry in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 72-63. Does Dietrich have another victory up their sleeve, or will Glenns Ferry turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
