Two dominant guards in Brody Westergard and Kiearon Marshall are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Butte County Pirates will be playing at home against the Alturas Prep Pumas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Butte County will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive.
In what's become a running theme this season, Butte County gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. Everything went their way against Salmon as Butte County made off with a 67-44 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Butte County has posted since December 5, 2023.
It was another big night for Westergard, who scored 30 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Braxton Gamett was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Alturas Prep really took it to American Heritage for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-23 victory on the road. The victory was just what Alturas Prep needed coming off of a 69-33 loss in their prior matchup.
Marshall continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a triple-double on 25 points, 17 rebounds, and 11 blocks. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Alturas Prep's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Korbin Russum, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Butte County is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Alturas Prep, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Butte County have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Alturas Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 47.9 rebounds per game.
