The Winslow Bulldogs lost against the Show Low Cougars two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Winslow took a 53-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Show Low. While losing is never fun, Winslow can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Show Low is ranked eighth).
Winslow's loss came despite strong showings from Jaci Gonnie and Taylin Puhuhefvaya. Gonnie scored 15 points, while Puhuhefvaya scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Leading Show Low to victory were Mikenzie Kulish and Raquel Wilson. Kulish scored 15 points along with five steals, while Wilson scored 17 points along with eight steals. Wilson hasn't dropped below two steals for 18 straight games. Jordyn Boyce was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Winslow dropped their record down to 6-18 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Show Low, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 27-2.
Winslow won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Payson at 1:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Winslow focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Thursday. Show Low does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
