Poquoson came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 51-47 victory over the Lafayette Rams. For the Islanders, this counts as revenge for the 52-26 win the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Lafayette's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kenzie Charity, who posted 21 points. The dominant performance gave Charity a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was MaKayla Keys, who had six points and nine assists.

Poquoson pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Lafayette, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poquoson will face off against Bruton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lafayette, they will head out on the road to square off against Tabb at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
