The Tucker County Mountain Lions won the last time they faced the Elkins Tigers, and things went their way on Thursday too. Tucker County took down Elkins 51-35. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Tucker County.
Tucker County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Raven Matthews out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 17 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brylee Wetzel, who scored 14 points.
Tucker County pushed their record up to 12-4 with that win, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Elkins, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
Tucker County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Petersburg at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in West Virginia (Tucker County is ranked 36th, while Petersburg is ranked 56th). As for Elkins, they will be playing at home against Robert C. Byrd at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Robert C. Byrd focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday.
