Dunmore and Lakeland are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Bucks will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Chiefs at 4:30 p.m. Dunmore is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Dunmore made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Riverside, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bucks were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Vikings on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bucks considering their one-run performance the match before.
Jamie McMynne made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. McMynne was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Dunmore let Bobby Hoban and Anthony Yerka run wild. Hoban scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Yerka scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Hoban also put up a triple, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Max Forgione, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Lakeland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 11-3 to Mid Valley.
Lakeland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Paul Malak, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Dunmore's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lakeland, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Lakeland's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dunmore hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386. It's a different story for Lakeland, though, as they've only averaged .251. Will they be able to contain Dunmore's hitters?
Everything went Dunmore's way against Lakeland in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Dunmore made off with a 15-7 victory. Will the Bucks repeat their success, or do the Chiefs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
