Ryan took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Birdville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Ryan's pitchers stepped up to hand Birdville a 1-0 shutout on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Hawks last Tuesday, they had to take a 9-2 defeat.

Ryan has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. Birdville's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-10.

Looking ahead, Ryan will welcome Lewisville at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Birdville, they will head out on the road to face off against Fossil Ridge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Fossil Ridge has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.58 runs per game on average), something Birdville will no doubt try to take advantage of.
