The Waite Indians are taking a road trip to square off against the Rogers Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Waite has given up an average of 14.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Waite came up short against Lima Senior on Thursday, falling 17-1. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rogers). They put the hurt on Scott with a sharp 23-1 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Da'Marion Allen-Gabriel was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Rogers is undefeated when Allen-Gabriel posts two or more runs, but 0-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, Rogers got a massive performance out of Edward Logan, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Logan has become a key player for the Rams: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-11 otherwise. Jeremiah McKinney was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs.
Rogers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Waite's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Rogers, their record now sits at 5-11.
Waite suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Rogers in their previous meeting last Monday. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
