Temple Christian has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Liberty Christian Academy Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Temple Christian will be strutting in after a win while Liberty Christian Academy will be coming in after a defeat.
Temple Christian posted their biggest win yet this season on Thursday. They breezed by Mintz Christian Academy at home to the tune of 63-36. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Temple Christian considering their zero-point performance the match before.
It was another big night for Josh Little, who went 11 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 35 points and 0 assists. He also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Rivera, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Liberty Christian Academy, who are still winless after their tenth contest. They had to suffer through a rough 64-30 loss at the hands of Mintz Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Liberty Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 652nd, while Mintz Christian Academy is ranked 232nd).
Liberty Christian Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of DJ Cuffee, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, and Andrew (AJ) Barrett who scored seven points along with three steals.
Temple Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they bumped their record down to 0-10 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road.
Everything went Temple Christian's way against Liberty Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2022 as Temple Christian made off with a 75-51 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Temple Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
