Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dixie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brandon Nance, who rushed for 145 yards and two scores while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Nance is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Martin, who rushed for 121 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Dixie was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 343 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 168 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Dixie didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jaxon Waters and Martin.
Meanwhile, Whitmire played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Ware Shoals and fell 42-14. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Hornets are ranked 99th).
Whitmire's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Dixie, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Dixie might still be hurting after the 38-18 defeat they got from Whitmire in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Hornets, Kayshaun Schumpert (who rushed for 202 yards and two TDs) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
