Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Fillmore Flashes, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 24-12 to Cerritos on Friday. Fillmore's loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Fillmore lost, one person who can't be blamed is Anthony Tafoya. Despite the final result, he threw for 266 yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Cerritos can attribute much of their success to Dikshanta Adhikari, who rushed for 179 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Adhikari was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. Josh Park was another key contributor, rushing for 70 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Fillmore's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Cerritos, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Fillmore does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cerritos is on the road again on Friday and play against Western Christian at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games.
