The Graham Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their tenth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Northwood on the road and fell 100-49. Graham has struggled against Northwood recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Graham lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Micah Woods, who scored 18 points. That was a full 36.7% of Graham's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jaylan Sinclair was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Northwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Drake Powell led the charge by scoring 16 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Powell hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jake Leighton, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Graham dropped their record down to 1-19 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Northwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.
Graham won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Williams at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Graham will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 627th, while Williams is ranked 286th). As for Northwood, they will head out on the road to square off against Cummings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cummings' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups.
