The Acton-Boxborough Revolution will take on the Westford Academy Grey Ghosts at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Acton-Boxborough is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
While Acton-Boxborough's victory against Newton South wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Revolution skirted past the Lions 6-4. The Revolution haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Ila Gillespie made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, Alice Rosecan was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5. Cassidy Ford also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Acton-Boxborough kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Westford Academy was not the first on the board last Monday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Wayland by a score of 5-2.
The team relied heavily on Khloe Felicani, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and two runs. Grace Janowsky was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Westford Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Acton-Boxborough, their win bumped their record up to an identical 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Acton-Boxborough has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Westford Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Acton-Boxborough couldn't quite finish off Westford Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Will the Revolution have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
