The Norfolk Catholic Knights will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Osmond/Randolph Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Norfolk Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
After a string of four wins, Norfolk Catholic's good fortune finally ran out. They took a 38-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Crofton. While losing is never fun, Norfolk Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Crofton is ranked fifth).
Norfolk Catholic's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Eva Hartzell, who scored 13 points, and Hayden Brummer who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Osmond/Randolph ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They managed a 34-29 victory over Lutheran-Northeast.
Osmond/Randolph's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ella Scott, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Scott pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleigh Miller, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Norfolk Catholic's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8. As for Osmond/Randolph, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-15 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Norfolk Catholic have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Osmond/Randolph struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
