Silverton and West Albany are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Foxes will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Silverton's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Corvallis. The Foxes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Mckenzee Petersen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Hannah Houts was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Madalynn Ehrens was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three runs.
Silverton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Corvallis only posted an OBP of .143.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Albany). They put the hurt on Crescent Valley with a sharp 24-7 victory on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bulldogs with their most commanding win of the season.
Like Silverton, West Albany also got a great game from a two-way player: Kodi Carapinha 2026. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Carapinha 2026 has posted since back in March. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Meritt Forney 2025, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Campbell Akers 2027 also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Silverton has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for West Albany, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-11.
West Albany's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Silverton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. It's a different story for West Albany, though, as they've only averaged .344. Will they be able to contain Silverton's hitters?
Silverton was able to grind out a solid win over West Albany in their previous matchup back in April, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Foxes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
