Heritage Christian has gone 3-0 against Flatirons Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Heritage Christian Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Flatirons Academy Bison at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Heritage Christian is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Dawson School: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Heritage Christian blew Dawson School out of the water with an 81-17 final score. The win was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.
Madilyn Buehrlen went supernova for Heritage Christian, going 6 for 8 en route to 15 points along with six assists and four steals. Another player making a difference was Cadence Smith, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 15 points and six assists.
Heritage Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Flatirons Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They breezed by the Buffaloes to the tune of 59-26. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-10.
Heritage Christian better keep an eye on Annabelle Rakers. She was instrumental in Flatirons Academy's win, dropping a triple-double on 28 points, ten rebounds, and 11 steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Rakers has scored at least a third of Flatirons Academy's points. Claire Friedman was another key player, going 7 for 8 en route to 15 points and three steals.
Heritage Christian pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.5 points per game. As for Flatirons Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Heritage Christian has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Flatirons Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Heritage Christian beat Flatirons Academy 62-49 in their previous matchup back in January of 2020. Will Heritage Christian repeat their success, or does Flatirons Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
