The Medford Mustangs will head out to square off against the Lynn English Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Medford got the win against Everett by a conclusive 12-3. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Crimson Tide: they've now won four in a row.

Travers Moodie made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Medford's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 8-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Moodie was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, John Wright was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Morando, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Medford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Everett only managed seven hits.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Lynn English nor Somerville made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Bulldogs walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Highlanders. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Highlanders on their field since May 23, 2022.
Jariel Benzan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Lynn English let Josue Prandy and Engel Thomas run wild. Prandy went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Thomas went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Gilbert Galva was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.
Lynn English is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Medford, their record now sits at 11-7.
Medford skirted past Lynn English 8-6 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
