It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Heritage Academy Heroes had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 36-6 victory over Imagine Prep. The win was just business as usual for Heritage Academy, who after ten games remain undefeated this season.
Leading Heritage Academy to victory were Kaden Bergman and Mattson Young. Bergman gained 144 total yards and three touchdowns, while Young threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes. David Mota was another key contributor, gaining 109 total yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Imagine Prep to a paltry 233 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Heritage Academy's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out 5.5 times before it was all said and done. Imagine Prep's QB won't forget Varis Carling anytime soon given Carling sacked him three times.
Despite the loss, Imagine Prep still got an impressive performance from Bryce Pollay, who rushed for 123 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 105 yards and a touchdown. Pollay hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for ten straight games.
Heritage Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Imagine Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.
