The NorthWood Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They walked away with a 63-55 win over Bremen. Winning may never get old, but NorthWood sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
NorthWood was led to victory by Claire Payne and Joselyn Edwards. Payne dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds, while Edwards scored 23 points along with three steals. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Johnson, who scored five points along with six assists and three steals.
Bremen's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kila Foster, who scored 23 points. The match was Foster's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Eliana Grubbs, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
NorthWood's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Bremen, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. NorthWood will take on Culver Academies at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Culver Academies focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday. As for Bremen, they will head out on the road to face off against Penn at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Lauren Walsh and Foster.
