For the first time this season, Yreka will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to challenge the West Valley Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Yreka is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Phoenix on Saturday as Yreka made off with a 21-7 win. With that victory, the Miners brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.
Gabe Gregg was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, West Valley entered their tilt with Corning on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 16-3 win. That looming 16-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.
Jayden Knight made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run.
In other batting news, Manny Sleezer and Degan Palos did most of the damage at the plate: Sleezer went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Palos scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Palos has become a key player for West Valley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Bryton Miller, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Yreka now has a winning record of 5-4. As for West Valley, their record is now 6-3.
West Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Yreka hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. It's a different story for West Valley, though, as they've only averaged .252. Will they be able to contain Yreka's hitters?
