MONTE VISTA, Colo. - the Pirates scored 27 points in the first quarter to secure a big 47-8 victory over Lake County (Leadville, Colo.) on Saturday.
Monte Vista scored on a
Jacob Vance touchdown run, a touchdown pass by
Michael Sanchez to
Presley Garcia, a Sanchez touchdown pass to Vance and a touchdown run by
Brenen Ramirez in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Vance in the first quarter, MV was up 41-0 at the half.
The Pirates raced to 27 in the first quarter alone and kept up the pace for the win.
Lake County's only touchdown came on a 37-yard run in the third quarter.
Monte Vista (1-0) goes up against Gunnison in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Lake County (0-1) locks horns with Salida also in a non-conference game.
