The West Lowndes Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They suffered a tough 61-39 defeat at the hands of Nanih Waiya. While losing is never fun, West Lowndes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Nanih Waiya is ranked 108th).
Leading Nanih Waiya to victory were Alexzandria Eiland and Nyshea Hoskin. Eiland scored 13 points along with seven rebounds, while Hoskin scored 23 points. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Hoskin has scored at least 25% of Nanih Waiya's points.
West Lowndes bumped their record down to 1-8 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.0 points per game. As for Nanih Waiya, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Lowndes will stay at home for another game and welcome Noxapater at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th. Nanih Waiya will be home for the holidays to greet Eupora at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
