South Iredell (Statesville, N.C.) grabbed the lead when
Davin King thew a touchdown to
Evan Dancey with 4:00 to go in the fourth quarter and held on to defeat
Salisbury (N.C.) 35-28 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured three lead swaps.
The Hornets pulled ahead on a touchdown run, and subsequently went into halftime leading 14-7. The Vikings took the lead for good with a King touchdown pass to Dancey in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring seven points in the third, South Iredell still trailed by 7 points going into the fourth quarter. But 21 points in the fourth helped SI pull out the victory.
Lachaston Smith was the top performer for the Statesville school. He ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 15 touchdowns on the season.
