Softball Recap: Bayfront Charter Find Success

Bayfront Charter took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Chula Vista Learning Community Charter, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Sharks had just enough and edged out the Cobras 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sharks have posted against the Cobras since May 2, 2018.

Daniela Figueroa made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. Figueroa was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Gabriella Loera was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Bayfront Charter pushed their record up to 5-15 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Chula Vista Learning Community Charter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-12.

Coming up, Bayfront Charter will be playing at home against Liberty Charter at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Sharks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Chula Vista Learning Community Charter, they will head out to face off against San Diego Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cobras are facing the Cavaliers at the right time seeing as the Cavaliers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
