West is 0-10 against Modesto Christian since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The West Wolfpack will head out on the road to take on the Modesto Christian Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday.
West struggled with assists on Wednesday (St. Mary's had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. West took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Mary's. While losing is never fun, West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while St. Mary's is ranked 59th).
The losing side was boosted by Xavier (XJ) Cardona Renshaw, who scored 15 points along with three steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Omari Smith, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Modesto Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They received a tough blow as they fell 64-45 to Notre Dame Prep. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Modesto Christian has scored all season.
West's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7. As for Modesto Christian, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-3.
West was dealt a bruising 65-33 loss at the hands of Modesto Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can West avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
