The Valley Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the D'Evelyn Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Valley is ranked 173rd, while D'Evelyn is ranked 164th).
Valley's and Bennett's contest last Thursday was close at halftime, but Valley turned on the heat in the second half with 21 points. Valley blew past Bennett 48-24. Valley didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.
Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carson Adolf out in front who rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Devon Dietz was another major influence, as he rushed for 73 yards and ran in a TD.
Meanwhile, D'Evelyn can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent matchup last Thursday. They claimed a resounding 35-6 win over Prospect Ridge Academy at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as D'Evelyn just coasted through the last quarter.
D'Evelyn's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Allen, who rushed for 92 yards on only eight carries. Another player making a difference was Kevyn Feldon, who threw for 117 yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Valley to 2-6 and D'Evelyn to 4-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Valley has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 170.6 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for D'Evelyn, though, as they've been averaging only 84.4 per game. How will D'Evelyn fare against such a dominant running game?
Valley was dealt a bruising 33-0 defeat at the hands of D'Evelyn in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
